Rex Atkisson

Rex James Atkisson, son of the late William J. Atkisson and Joan L. Bayles, was born February 29, 1964, in Cook County, Illinois, and passed away peacefully January 20, 2023, at his home in Grovespring, Missouri, with his wife, Tammy King, at his side. He was 58 years, 10 months, and 22 days of age.

He was preceded in death by his dad, William Atkisson.

He is survived by his wife, Tammy King, two step-daughters, Stephanie King and Tanya Tipsword, one son, Justin Stafford, one daughter, Kayla Shirley, his mom, Joan Reedy, one brother, Larry Reedy, two sisters, Rosalie Thompson and Cheryl Moore, his step-mom, Judy Lee, one step-brother, DeWayne Ducker, one step-sister, Rhonda Laub, several grandchildren, and lots of extended family and friends.

Rex didn’t do just one job in his working career. He had several different types of jobs throughout his life. He went to Seymour High School in Seymour, Missouri, and was a part of the class of 1982.

Rex loved rebuilding and working on all types of vehicles, and he loved watching anything related to racing on TV. He also enjoyed barbecues, hunting, fishing, and spending time with family and friends. He also loved the water, and enjoyed spending a day at the lake from time to time. He will be remembered and fondly missed by those who knew him.
