Edwin Leonard Cline was born on August 27, 1926, in Centerville, Iowa as the son of Robert and Marguerite (Heck) Cline. He passed away on October 13, 2013, in Autumn Oaks Caring Center in Mtn. Grove, Missouri, after a long illness.
Edwin Leonard Cline grew up in Centerville, Iowa and received his education from the Centerville School system. In his senior year of high school, he was drafted into the United States Army for World War II. He served from 1945-1946 in the Occupational Army in Japan. After completing his military service, he returned home and graduated from high school. He then completed a degree in the Seminary Extension Department, as a Pastor and Minister, from the Southern Baptist Convention.
In 1948, he married Barbara King of Numa, Iowa. Brother Eddie and Barbara enjoyed over 65 years
together. Three children were born to this union: Carol, Edwin Jr., and Rebekah.
Edwin and Barbara lived in and around Centerville, Iowa until he was called to the gospel ministry. After being called to the ministry, he was then known here-on-out as Brother Eddie. He pastored in Southern Iowa and Northern Missouri before coming to Mountain Grove, Missouri in 1973. He served as the Evangelism Chairman in each association that he participated in. He also served in a number of churches as an interim Pastor. He held many revivals, conducted many pulpit supplies and worked with Campers on Mission. He worked throughout Missouri, Iowa and Oklahoma. His greatest love was visitation. Brother Eddie loved to share the love of Jesus. For many years, he and a group of friends developed a singing group where they sang and played for a number of rest homes in the area. Brother Eddie never retired from serving his Lord until he was taken in death.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and by a sister: Myrtle Seeley.
He is survived by his loving wife:Barbara Cline of their home; his children: Carol Ann Curtis of Centerville, Iowa, Edwin Cline Jr., of Des Moines, Iowa, and Rebekah Bujarski of Mtn. Grove; eight grandchildren: Delana Ahmad, Tally Winklemann, Sammy Fulmer, Ann Vorhees, Amy McCrea, Marinus Top, Taletha and Andrei Petre and Levi Top; sixteen great grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews, and a host of relatives, friends and neighbors who will miss him very much..
Funeral Service:
Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at 2:00 PM at First Baptist Church in Mountain Grove.
Visitation:
Tuesday, October 15, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home.
