Raymond “Dean” Pruitt, son of the late Richard “Barney” and Edna Lucille (Moore) Pruitt, was born on October 24, 1938 in Willow Springs, Missouri and departed this life on Monday, August 13, 2012 at his residence in Mtn. Grove, Missouri, surrounded by his family. He was 73 years, 9 months and 19 days of age.
Dean grew up and attended school in the Willow Springs area. He was united in marriage to Judy Parker on May 21, 1966 in Willow Springs, Missouri. Two children were born to this union. For the past six years, Dean and Judy have made their home in Mtn. Grove on Davis Drive.
Dean enjoyed farm life. He liked working on his farm and buying and selling farm equipment. He enjoyed being outdoors, moose hunting in Alaska, elk hunting in Colorado, bass fishing and hog hunting in Florida, and deer and turkey hunting in Missouri. He greatly enjoyed getting together with his family and friends for fish fries.
In his younger years, he liked to participate in rodeos, fly model airplanes, and he was also a small aircraft pilot.
Dean was a kind and caring husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He enjoyed the time he spent with his family and will be truly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: James Pruitt and Richard Pruitt, both from Willow Springs, Missouri; two sisters: Ivah Meier and her husband, Frank, from Dayton, Ohio, and Georgie Gossard from Mtn. Grove; his mother in law: Marge Lehman from Willow Springs, Missouri; his father–in-law: Robert Lee Parker, from Willow Springs, Missouri; a sister-in-law: Glenda Queen from Springfield, Oregon; and a brother-in-law: Bruce Queen.
Dean is survived by his loving wife of forty-six years: Judy Pruitt of their home; two sons: Dennis Ray Pruitt of Gilbert, Arizona, and Bob Ray Pruitt and his wife, Dawn, of Cabool, Missouri; one daughter: Susanna Kammerer and her husband, Bert, of Apopka, Florida; one grandson: Austin Cruse of Apopka, Florida; one brother: Ted Pruitt and his wife, Trudy, of Pekin, Illinois; five sisters: Inez Trowbridge and her husband, Alva, of Summersville, Missouri, Nancy Chaney of Willow Springs, Missouri, Sadie Reeves and her husband, Ronnie, of Pharr, Texas, Lorene Thurman and Fred, of Louisville, Kentucky, and Linda White and her husband, Deon, of Nixa, Missouri; brother-in-law: Tom Gossard of St. James, Missouri; sister-in-law: Irene Pruitt of Willow Springs, Missouri; and a brother-in-law: Larry Parker and his wife, Karen, of Powell, Wyoming; several nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; and other relative and friends.
