Ray Winfred Cheek, son of the late Ercil and Gladys (Frank) Cheek, was born on July 19, 1929, in Columbia, Tennessee, and departed this life on March 13, 2016, in Springfield, Missouri. He was 86 years, 7 months, and 23 days of age.
Ray loved to be outdoors, whether he was mowing or just resting on his bench watching the birds down at the spring. He was a handyman who loved helping with all building projects. He was a member, prayer warrior, and greeter at First Free Will Baptist Church in Mountain Grove. Ray was a great example of a Godly man and was a witness for Jesus to many. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Ray is survived by two daughters: Teresa Laney of Orlando, Florida, and Robin Estevez of Key West, Florida; his adopted family, the Kicklighters: David, Lisa, Megan, Carl, Aaron, Katie, and Liam; five grandchildren: Jennifer, Tamela, Manny, Dylan, and Ryan; five great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and many friends.
Visitation: There will be time for visiting and fellowship following the Memorial Service with blackberry cobbler and ice cream.
Memorial Service: Friday, March 18, 2016, at 6:30 PM at First Free Will Baptist Church.
Memorial Contributions: Free Will Baptist Missions in care of the funeral home.
