Ray Alvin Hurt, son of the late Clarence and Ada Epple (Sanders) Hurt, was born on April 30, 1929 in Norwood, Missouri and departed this life on May 26, 2007 at Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, Missouri after a long illness. He was 78 years and 26 days of age.
Ray grew up in the Norwood area. He married Frances Bradshaw on October 23, 1951 in Hardy, Arkansas. Three children were born to this union. Ray enjoyed riding and breaking horses, fishing, and spending time with family, especially his grandkids and great-grandkids. He was also a member of the Bethel Chapel Church near Norwood, Missouri. Ray will be sadly missed by all those that knew and loved him.
Besides his parents, Ray was preceded in death by an infant son, Clarence Ray; two brothers: Lester and his twin brother, Fay.
He is survived by his loving wife of their home: Frances Hurt; one son: Gary Hurt and his wife, Robin, of Mountain Grove; one daughter: Brenda Day and her husband, Dale, of Hartville, Missouri; three grandchildren: James Hurt and his wife, Tabatha, of Vanzant, Missouri, Lisa Vaughan of Mountain Grove, and Stephanie Dugger of Hartville, Missouri; six great-grandchildren: Evan, Ian, and Owen Hurt, Riley Vaughan, and Gunner and Somer Dugger; and a host of other relatives, neighbors, and friends.

Monday, May 28, 2007 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel.
Funeral services:
Tuesday, May 29, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel.
