Ralph Lester Glover

Ralph Lester Glover was born October 14, 1930, in Lincoln, Illinois, and passed away May 24, 2018, in Mountain Grove, Missouri. He was 87 years, 7 months, and 10 days “and 9 months” of age. Ralph was one of twelve children born to Ralph Lester and Beulah (Tyler) Glover.

Ralph grew up in Hoopeston, Illinois. He served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War from 1948 – 1950. He was later transferred to a Reserve unit at Selfridge Air Force Base in Michigan with the Strategic Air Command and was discharged in 1955. His total time of service was 6 years, 8 months, and 15 days. He married Ruth Kinder on December 8, 1950, in Hoopeston. Five children were born to this union. Ralph worked as a machinist at FMC while living in Hoopeston. Later, he and Ruth moved to Elk Creek, Missouri. Ralph was saved and baptized at Elk Creek Baptist Church. He greatly loved the Lord. They moved to Mountain Grove, Missouri, in 1996, and joined the Mountain Grove First Baptist Church.

Ralph was a hardworking man and enjoyed beef farming. He always liked tinkering, growing, and fixing things. He also enjoyed mushroom hunting and fishing. In his spare time, he liked playing cards with friends.

Besides his parents, Ralph was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Ruth Glover, one son, Barry Glover, one grandson, Clinton Glover, five brothers, Charles, Richard, Jack, Bill, and Jim Glover, three sisters, Isabelle Powell, Jeanne Huckabee, and Ruth Erickson.

He is survived by two sons, Terry Allen Glover and his wife, Julie, of Boswell, Indiana, and Jay Michael Glover and his wife, Kumcha, of Richland, Missouri, two daughters, Janiece Leree Fugitt and her husband, Bruce, of Mountain Grove, Missouri, and Gail Lynette Wright and her husband, Mark, of Ozark, Missouri, three sisters, Gwen Brown of Hoopeston, Illinois, Joanne Binkley of Chanute, Illinois, and Marcia Smith and her husband, Larry, of Hoopeston, Illinois, eleven grandchildren, Carrie Lincks, Derrick Glover, Cody Glover, Stella Barr, Kerick Gibbs, Bailey Glover, Adam Glover, Jennifer Harrison, Misty Clemons, Elizabeth Wright, and Daniel Wright, eighteen great-grandchildren, and many other friends, family, and church family who will greatly miss him.
