Rachel 'Maxine' Causey

Rachel Maxine Causey, daughter of the late Elijah James and Jessie Ann (Sanders) Luellen, was born on March 16, 1930 in Buckhart, Missouri and departed this life on November 30, 2014 at Willow Care Nursing Home in Willow Springs, Missouri. She was 84 years, 8 months, and 14 days of age.

Maxine and her family lived in the Drury/Gentryville, Missouri area. Around 1945, Maxines family moved to Parsons, Kansas. Maxine met Jessie Causey at church and the two were married on November 6, 1947 in Erie, Kansas. Seven children were born to this union: Janet, born in 1948; Albert, born in 1949; Mary, born in 1951; Dale born in 1953; Steven, born in 1955; Jay, born in 1957; and Mike, born in 1958.

Maxine greatly enjoyed reading her Bible, books, and crocheting. She crocheted several blankets for her grandchildren. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Besides her parents, Maxine was preceded in death by her loving husband: Jessie, in 1994; two sons: Albert Causey, in 1950 and Steve Causey, in 2012; and one daughter: Janet Hatch, in 1993.

Maxine is survived by three sons: Dale Causey of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Jay Causey and his wife, Charlene, of Dora, Missouri, Mike Causey and his wife, Lois, of Dunn, Missouri; one daughter: Mary Collins of Branson, Missouri; one brother: Jim Luellen, and his wife, Virginia, of Nowata, Oklahoma; one sister: Edna Powers of Cassville, Missouri; two nephews: M.C. Powers and Michael Luellen; one niece: Michelle Luellen of Joplin, Missouri; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and several other relatives.


Visitation: Wednesday, December 3, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home.

Funeral Service: Thursday, December 4, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home.

Burial: New Hope Cemetery, Douglas County, Missouri.
