Phyllis Mae Shannon, daughter of the late Noble and Mildred (Hines) McGowan, was born May 28, 1936, in Fresno, California, and departed this life June 25, 2022, at her home in Fordland, Missouri. She was 86 years and 28 days of age.
Phyllis was united in marriage to Calvin Shannon on July 3, 1954, in Mountain Grove, Missouri. Three children were born to this union, Vicky, Richard, and Bob.
Phyllis enjoyed shopping for and collecting antiques. She also enjoyed gardening, tending to her flowers and landscaping. She loved pets and caring for her cat and dog as well as watching hummingbirds and nature from her back porch. Phyllis was also a great cook. Her greatest joy in life was her family to whom she was an excellent wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. After retirement, Phyllis enjoyed riding in the semi-truck with Calvin on his road trips seeing all the sites along the way.
Beside her parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by one sister, Geraldine Shannon, one daughter, Vicky Myers, and two daughters-in-law, Mary Shannon and Wanda Shannon.
Phyllis is survived by her husband of nearly 68 years, Calvin Shannon of the home, two sons, Bob Shannon of Fordland, Missouri, Richard Shannon and wife, DeAnn, of Nevada, Missouri, one sister, Lauralee Rogers and husband, Arley, of Springfield, Missouri, brother-in-law, Howard Shannon of Fordland, Missouri, grandchildren, Shane Rabourn and wife, Lori, of Springfield, Missouri, Matt Shannon and fiancé, Amy, of Freeman, Missouri, Desiree Hayes of Nevada, Missouri, and Nathan Jesse and wife, Ronna, of Fleming Island, Florida, great-grandchildren, Bradley, Jacob, and Jackson Rabourn, Kalvin Shannon, Kendall and Kirby Jesse, MaKayla and Braden Morris, Kayli Clevenger, and Liza Hayes. Phyllis will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
