With great sadness we announce the passing of our loving and devoted mother, Peggy Anne Waddell. She was born October 24, 1947 in Texarkana, Arkansas to the late George William and Mildred Louise (Bowman) Waddell. After many months of illness, she entered Heaven’s gate on June 29, 2019 while surrounded by all her children.
In her prime, you would find Peggy in the kitchen teaching each of her children and grandchildren the secrets of her amazing recipes. As a loving mother, nana, sister, and friend, mama shared her love of cooking with not only her family but also made sure each holiday included a feast to bring all her loved ones and friends under one roof to enjoy. She treasured every moment spent with family and friends.
Until her health condition made it impossible, Peggy loved tending to her garden and her beautiful roses. Her love of nature always drew her outside to sit and admire the hummingbirds as they fed, listen to her wind chimes in the breeze, and extend an invitation to anyone who visited to sit awhile with her on the front porch.
Many knew Peggy by her witty sense of humor, feisty character, and ability to crack up an entire room just by the raise of her eyebrow. But, as her children, we witnessed the strength she demonstrated as an example to never give up. We saw the fierceness of her unconditional love. We felt the gentleness of her hugs and kisses and the pride she held for each of us.
Peggy is the dear sister of Linda Langdon and husband, Dean, of Genoa, Arkansas, David Waddell and wife, Jan, of Texarkana, Arkansas, and the late Paul Waddell of Texarkana, Arkansas, as well as the aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Her legacy of love will be continued by her daughters, Robin Lozano and April Wiyrick of Mountain Grove, Missouri, and her son, Ervey J. Fernandez II and wife, Diana, of Hutto, Texas. She will be remembered as Nana by ten grandchildren, Christopher, Kare, Monica, Audrianna, Shelby, Ervey III, Leandra, Daniel, David, and Aleah, and seven great-grandchildren, Payson, Trey, Brentley, Savannah, Bowen, Peyton, and baby Sigman.
Peggy will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
In lieu of flowers, Peggy’s family requests donations be made to her monument fund, in care of the funeral home.
