Paul Eugene Dear, son of the late Charles Leslie and Carrie Gertrude (Haggard) Dear, was born in Dawson, Missouri on September 27, 1921 and passed from this life May 30, 2008 in Webco Manor in Marshfield, Missouri. He was 86 years, 8 months, and 3 days of age.
Paul moved to Humboldt, Kansas as a child and graduated from Humboldt High School. He was saved and baptized as a young man. He joined the U. S. Army in September of 1942 and served his country for four years during World War II. He married Ida Purgeson on April 27, 1946. Together they raised one daughter, Charollet. Paul was employed with Hallmark for over twenty years.
He later married Elsie Dennis on October 27, 1983 in Mountain Grove. Paul enjoyed fishing when he was younger and he also enjoyed singing and playing the guitar at church functions. In later years, he loved to travel. He was a good father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and will be dearly missed.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wives: Ida on April 28, 1983, and Elsie on May 17, 2004; and by one sister: Marie Schriner.
Paul is survived by one son: Jerry Dennis and his wife, Marilyn, of Mountain Grove; two daughters: Charollet Cantrell of Marshfield, Missouri and Judy Shaw of Nixa, Missouri; one niece: Darlene Schriner of Boulder, Colorado; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of other friends and relatives.
Funeral services for Paul Dear were held Monday, June 2, 2008, 10:00 AM in the Cornerstone Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Ronald Turner officiating. Ronald & Wilma Turner sang “Amazing Grace,” and “When The Roll Is Called Up Yonder.” Natalie Burrel sang “Victory In Jesus.” Pallbearers were Farris Lawler, Bob Murr, Ura Hardin, Verlin Wright, Ken Chapman, Darrell Schoneboom, Lewis Pridemore, and Ronnie Murr. Burial was in the Friendship Cemetery under the direction of the Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Mtn. Grove, Missouri.
