Patsy Sue (Goodman) Bradshaw, daughter of the late John Chalmer and Zelda Faye (Johnson) Goodman, was born on May 10, 1942 south of Norwood, Missouri in Douglas County, and departed this life on May 15, 2012 in the Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri, following complications with heart surgery.
Patsy grew up on a farm in Douglas County near Norwood, and attended school at Oak Forest and Norwood.
She started dating James Bradshaw while she was in the Eighth Grade. These high school sweethearts were united in marriage on May 15, 1960, two days after Patsy's high school graduation. Two children were born to this union, Rhonda and Rusty. They raised their family in Norwood area and were happily married for fifty-two years.
Patsy played and coached softball teams for many years. This was a great passion in her life and she loved being a part of all kinds of sports.
Patsy was employed by Tobin Hamilton Shoe Factory in Mansfield, Missouri for several years. She was a very community minded person and worked as a Norwood City Collector, a Security Guard for Norwood School and most recently in the Norwood School Daycare and as a school cook. She dearly loved working at the school and getting to see the kids on a daily basis. She loved it when they would call her “Ma Pat.” She was also a die-hard Norwood Pirates sports fan. She had seldom missed a game since the 1970’s. She was also known as an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.
When she had her first heart stint surgery, she made sure the doctor had her ready to get to her grandson, Jamie’s, basketball game that evening.
Patsy was a very loving and caring daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandma, sister, aunt, and friend. She was the happiest, spending time with her family and grandkids.
She never put her own needs first. She always took care of those around her. She worked very hard through-out her life and instilled this into her children.
Patsy gave her heart to the Lord at an early age and had attended Oak Forest Church for many years.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Chalmer “Dink” Goodman in 1983 and Kenneth Lee Goodman in 2001.
She is survived by her husband, James Bradshaw, of their home in Norwood; her daughter and son-in-law: Rhonda and David Coatney; her son and daughter-in-law: Monte Russell “Rusty” and Kathy Bradshaw, all of Norwood, Missouri; her grandchildren: Keith Allen Coatney and his wife, Jesi, James David Coatney and his wife, Angela, Travis Joe Coatney, Emily Ann Bradshaw and Taylor Russell Bradshaw; her great-grandchildren: Jade, Ty, Shaylee, and Laken Coatney; one sister: Diane Cooley and Bill Bonnarens of Springfield, Missouri; her brother –in-law and sister-in-law: Leo and Ruth Bradshaw; her sister-in-law: June Bradshaw, all of Norwood, Missouri; many nieces; nephews; countless friends, and a whole community who will truly miss her.
