Patsy Hodges

Patricia Sue Hodges was born was born February 4, 1956, in Seagoville, Texas, to Delmar and Maxine (Hammons) Hodges and passed away suddenly at her home in Mountain Grove, February 26, 2025, at 69 years of age.

Although Patsy was born in Texas, she spent most of her life in Missouri. She was a 1974 graduate of Kickapoo High School and went on to attend college at Southwest Missouri State University where she earned a degree in Education and later earned a master’s degree. She began her teaching career in Exeter, Missouri, but found her home in Mountain Grove where she taught for 27 years. Patsy taught several subjects but concentrated mostly on math. She was the kind of teacher who never gave up until she found a way to make the subject understandable to all students. She cared about her students greatly and made lifelong connections with several of them.

In her spare time, Patsy loved to travel with her good friend, Rita Bunch. One of her dreams was to be on an Alaskan cruise at the beginning of school, her first year of retirement, and she and Rita were able to make that dream come true. She also enjoyed spending time with other coworkers who became her extended family. She was a serious game player and never missed a game day at her church with her friends and church family. Patsy accepted Jesus at a young age and her faith remained an important part of her life. 

Patsy loved her family and greatly treasured time together. Her nephews always held a very special place in her heart which she demonstrated each time she doted on them. 

Patsy was preceded in death by her father and grandparents.

She is survived by her mother, Maxine Hodges, her brother, Gary Hodges (Becky), her sister, Sherry Norman (Tim), her nephews, Michael Hodges (Tammy) and Tyler Norman, her great-niece, Brittany Hodges, her great-great-nephew and niece, Fynn and Enslee, and many cousins, other family, and many friends who will dearly miss her.

The family requests memorial contributions be made to Mountain Grove Schools or First Baptist Church of Mountain Grove in care of the funeral home.
