Pat Wood

Patricia Louise Wood, daughter of the late Chester and Lola (Pool) Newton, was born January 20, 1920, in Hartville, Missouri and departed this life on August 23, 2016 in Mountain Grove, Missouri following a short illness. She was 96 years, 7 months, and 3 days of age.
Pat grew up in Hartville, Missouri where her family owned a grocery store, her uncles had a hardware store and her grandmother had a millinery shop. Pat had many fond memories of each store and all the fun she had growing up. Her junior year her family moved to Mountain Grove so her parents could run a hotel. Pat graduated from Mountain Grove High School in 1937. She was united in marriage to Arthur Edward Wood, Jr. on June 23, 1940. Their wedding was the first to be conducted in the Mountain Grove Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration. Two children were born to this union.
Pat was a long-time member of the Episcopal Church and faithfully attended as long as her health permitted. She enjoyed all kinds of crafts but her special talent was in crocheting and knitting. Pat crocheted her special pins for friends, family and many of the school students. It made her so happy when someone would wear one.
Besides her parents, Pat was preceded in death by her husband: Art Wood; her sister: Dorothy Fern Scaggs; and daughter-in-law: Joyce C. Wood.
Survivors include her son: Arthur E. Wood, III and wife, Donna, of Cleveland, Missouri; daughter: Janet Azevedo and husband, Terry, of Mountain Grove; grandchildren: Chris Azevedo and wife, Kari; Jeff Azevedo; Brian Azevedo and wife, Anna; Kelley Deatherage and husband, David; David Wood and wife Julie; Kelly Hart and husband David; Richard Gross and wife Stephanie and thirteen great-grandchildren.
Pat was a kind woman who always wore a pleasant smile. She loved spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
