Omer Wayne Stemmons, son of the late Omer and Hazel Pearl (Busby) Stemmons, was born April 4, 1932, in Golden City, Missouri, and passed away May 19, 2022, at Cox Medical Center in Springfield, Missouri, at 90 years of age.
Omer grew up in Golden City and graduated with honors from Golden City High School. He was drafted into the United States Army and served his country during the Korean War. After his service, he went to work for IBT in Springfield, Missouri, running a route from Springfield to Rolla. It was on one of these routes that he met the love of his life. Mary (Oliphant) Bell owned two restaurants in Cabool, Missouri, where he would stop for a bite to eat. They were married December 30, 1978, in Cabool.
Omer retired from IBT when he was 55. In his spare time, he enjoyed working at their home. He loved using his cub tractor to work in the yard and he enjoyed remodeling and building their homes.
Omer was dedicated to taking his family to church. He was ordained as a deacon at Southside Baptist Church in Mountain Grove, but they also were members of the First Baptist and Second Baptist churches in Cabool, Missouri, at various times in their lives, and were currently members of Immanuel Baptist Church in Mountain Grove.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and one son-in-law, Neil Poynter.
Omer is survived by his loving wife of their home, Mary Stemmons, two sons, Edward Bell and his wife, Joanna, and Don Bell, Jr. and his wife, Rose, all of Mountain Grove, Missouri, four daughters, Lana Krambeck and her husband, Jim, and Donna Sanders and her husband, Terry, all of Cabool, Missouri, Debbie Conner and her husband, Bob, of Marshall, Missouri, and Darlena Poynter of Richland, Missouri, one sister, Marilyn Stark of Weatherford, Texas, fourteen grandchildren, Dustin Ratterree, Dana Yarder, Daniella Luton, Casey Stark, Brandon Stark, Cassandra Stark, Brandon Turnbull, Christina Bell, Ashley Bell, Sasha Sullivan, Sharyl Lewis, Devin Poynter, Darcy Story, and Trey Poynter, two nieces, Kathy Clark and Mairl Adams, and other relatives and friends who will miss him.
