Omer Glen Spencer, son of the late Frank and Norma (Quinn) Spencer, was born on September 24, 1933, in Manes, Missouri, and departed this life on March 2, 2016, in Mountain Grove, Missouri. He was 82 years, 5 months, and 7 days of age.
Glen graduated from Plato High School in 1951, and then joined the United States Coast Guard. Glen was proud to serve his country. He later worked as a foreman at Farmland Industries in Lawrence, Kansas, and retired after 32 years.
Glen enjoyed doing yard work and working at Hocker Oil Service Plus in Mountain Grove for 20 years. He was always ready to lend a helping hand.
Glen was baptized and was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ of Lawrence, Kansas, and in Mountain Grove.
Besides his parents, Glen was preceded in death his brother: Dorsey Spencer.
He is survived by his loving wife: Donna of the home; his son: Kenneth Spencer; his daughter: Kathy Harris of North Carolina; his brother: Leonard Spencer of Cabool, Missouri; his sister: Bonnie Willhite and her husband, Dale, of Plato, Missouri; grandchildren: Kenneth Stowe (Spencer) and Edward Umfred (Spencer) and his wife, Haley; and a host of other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and friends who will greatly miss him.
Visitation: Saturday, March 5, 2016, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at 1st Street Church Of Christ.
Funeral Service: Saturday, March 5, 2016, at 2:00 PM at 1st Street Church Of Christ.
Burial: Dutch Chapel Cemetery
Memorial Contributions: May be made to Mercy Hospice Of Care c/o the funeral home.
