Norman Freeman

September 19, 1948 — January 5, 2023

Norman Dale Freeman, son of the late Dale Roland and Jessie Marie (Riley) Freeman, was born September 19, 1948, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and departed this life January 5, 2023, in Springfield, Missouri, at 74 years and 3 months of age.

Norman grew up and attended school in Mountain Grove, graduating with the class of 1966. After graduation, he was drafted into the United States Army and served his country from 1968-1970 before being honorably discharged.

Norman was united in marriage to Sherry Mitchell on January 23, 1971, in Mountain Grove. One daughter was born to this union.

Norman worked for Holsum Bread as a route salesman for many years. Later, the company changed to Interstate Brands Corporation and he was promoted to district sales manager until his retirement after thirty years of service.

Norman coached girls’ and boys’ softball for many years. He also enjoyed lake life, fishing, skiing, and just being on the water. Later in life, Norman really liked playing golf. Norman and Sherry enjoyed being together and took many special trips. They had a wonderful life together.  He especially loved being with family and friends, and enjoyed making the best barbeque ever. He would lend a helping hand to anyone in need and he could fix anything, not giving up until it was done.

Norman was a member of the First Christian Church in Mountain Grove. He was baptized several years ago and was ready to go to his heavenly home.

Norman was preceded in death by his parents and a half-brother, Howie Fullington.

He is survived by his wife of their home, Sherry Freeman, one daughter, Shawna Freeman of Springfield, Missouri, one brother, Gorman Hill and his wife, Edith, of Mountain Grove, Missouri, two sisters, Theresa Clinton and her husband, Smitty, of Red Banks, Mississippi, and Lisa Graham and her husband, Andy, of Memphis, Tennessee, two brothers-in-law, Gary Mitchell and his wife, Kathy, of Highlandville, Missouri, and Dennis Mitchell and his wife, Carolyn, of Mountain Grove, Missouri, and many, many friends and neighbors who will dearly miss him.
