Noel Adwin Dowden, 82, passed this life September 30, 2017, on the beautiful banks of Beaver Creek near Graff, Missouri.
Noel was the oldest child of the late Roy and Alta (Cochrum) Dowden, born June 20, 1935. He accepted Jesus at Green Mountain Church at a young age.
Noel was married 61 years to the love of his life, Dorothy Joan Casey. They were married at Dawson, Missouri. They started out with a dairy farm located east of Green Mountain, Missouri. Once Noel joined the Army Reserves, they sold their cows. Not long after, they moved to Springfield, Missouri, where Noel worked selling auto parts. He then went to work at Lily-Tulip paper cup factory. Noel and Dorothy later moved back to the Mountain Grove, Missouri, area where they ran a dairy farm up until the last few years.
Noel loved being around people. He was well known to miss milking times because he was visiting too long with someone in town. Young people loved being around “Mayor” Noel because of his kindness and willingness to spend time with them.
Besides his parents, Noel was preceded in death by one sister, Carlene Key.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Dowden of the home, two sons, David Dowden and wife, Carla, of Mountain Grove, and Curtis Dowden and wife, Teresa, of Mountain Grove, one daughter, Shirley Smith of Rogersville, Missouri, nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, one brother, Allen Dowden and wife, Kay, of Mountain Grove, one sister, Ruth Moseley and husband, Jimmie, of Hartville, Missouri, several nieces and nephews, and many friends and neighbors who will miss him greatly.
