Nellie Sanders

March 9, 1917 — January 25, 2016

Nellie Eve (Sutton) Sanders was born in Mountain Grove, Missouri, on March 9, 1917 to Jacob and Julia (Bridges) Sutton. Her earthly journey ended and Heavenly journey began Monday morning, January 25, at Country Living Assisted Living in Mountain Grove.
Nellie grew up in and around Mountain Grove, walking to country schools as a young girl and later attended Mountain Grove Schools.
Nellie married Orval Sanders on June 11, 1937. They spent time in Washington, Kansas City, Idaho, and Wichita but returned to the Mountain Grove are to raise their children, Ronald Walter and Nancy Jo.
Orval and Nellie owned rental properties along with living on a farm. She worked beside Orval on the farm, always gardening, canning, and taking care of her family. She helped Orval with the rentals after he sold the farm and returned to barbering. After retirement, they spent many winters in the Rio Grande Valley. They enjoyed long walks on the beach, fishing, and sight-seeing.
As they got older they returned back to one of their farms where Orval ran a few head of cattle. They loved to travel and enjoyed trips to Colorado and the Gulf with Ron and Nancy and family. Nancy took them to Silver Dollar City every summer until Orvals passing.
She was the happiest when she was surrounded by family, always enjoying a visit from the children.
Nellie accepted the Lord as a girl and she, along with the rest of her family, were baptized at First Free Will Baptist Church in Mountain Grove. As they got older, Ron and Thelma took them to church. She shared a love for singing and always enjoyed when the family was together to sing.
Mother lived a very full life and we are blessed for the example she lived as she went about serving the Lord with her quiet faith.
Four year old Emma summed it up pretty well when she said, Granny is going to make a very pretty angel.
Besides her parents, Nellie was preceded in death by two brothers: Fred and Orville, and by three sisters: Bertha, Mildred, and Virginia.
Nellie is survived by a son: Ronald Sanders and his wife, Thelma; a daughter: Nancy Dedmon and her husband, Mike; eight grandchildren by birth and love: Earl and his wife, Shannon, Melisa and her husband, Chris, Venice, Justin and his wife, Sarah, Mattheson and his wife, Shellie, Joshua, Autumn and her husband, Zach, and Austin and his wife, Katie; her great-grandchildren (her little rosebuds): Cameron Eve, Emma Jo, Molly Ann, Cheyenne Lee, Takoda, Lakota, Quinton, Jack, Sophia, Noah, Hunter, Whitney, Ethan, Chelsea, and Shayla; one sister: Bonnie Jean Blasco; one sister-in-law: Florence; and a host of other family and friends.
In 2013, she moved to Country Living Assisted Living. A special thanks to the staff at Country Living along with Joe Golden and Deanna Thompson who made it home for mom and allowed her to end her journey surrounded by love.
