Nancy Darlene Garay

Nancy Darlene Garay, daughter of the late Alphonso and Lupe (Encinas) Cota, was born on July 28, 1933, in Santa Barbara, California, and departed this life on March 13, 2016, at her home in Mountain Grove, Missouri, after a long illness. She was 82 years, 7 months, 14 days.
Nancy lived most of her life in San Luis Obispo, California, working at the housing authority. She moved to Missouri in 1992. Nancy gave her heart to Jesus in 1993, and attended Whetstone Baptist Church as long as her health permitted. Nancy liked to crochet, and enjoyed playing bingo and doing crafts.
Nancy loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren very much. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Besides her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by four brothers: Robert Southgate, Roonie Cota, Al Cota, and Michael Cota; and two sisters: Becky Craig and Connie Hoak.
She is survived by one son: Russell Garay of Garden City, Kansas; three daughters: Debbie Davis and Jim Scherer of Rogue River, Oregon; Becky Davis and Phillip Bertrand of Mountain Grove, Missouri, and Tammy Proulx and her husband, Joe, of Orlando, Florida; seven grandchildren: Jason Davis and his wife, Deanna, Joseph Garay and his wife, Melinda, Cory Davis and his wife, Lesley, Chad Davis and his wife, Janelle, Emily Mantonya and her husband, Ben, Timothy Davis, and Megan Proulx; nine great-grandchildren: Rachel Boatright and her husband, Chayil, Jared Davis, Joseph Davis and his wife, Amber, Abby Davis, James Davis, Sara Davis, Faith Davis, Becca Davis, and Liz Davis; four-great-great-grandchildren: Elizabeth Garay, Audrey Boatright, Marcus Boatright, and BradLee Davis; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A Private Family Memorial was held on Sunday, March 13, 2016, at Nancys residence with Pastor Jason Davis officiating. The family sang Nancys favorite song, Amazing Grace.
Nancy was cremated under the direction of Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home.
