Myrtle Nellie Mueller, daughter of the late Milton T. and Winnie Jane (Carlton) Purgeson, was born April 1, 1917 in Wright County, Missouri, and departed this life July 19, 2017 at Autumns Oaks Caring Center in Mountain Grove, Missouri. She was 100 years, 3 months, and 18 days of age.
Myrtle had lived in the Mountain Valley/Morning Sun community since she was three years old. She had lived on her farm Northwest of Mountain Grove for 66 years. Myrtle was married to Newel Amos Hurt on September 30, 1938. One daughter, Estelline, was born to this union. Newell was killed on March 4, 1945, while on active duty during World War II. She later married Robert Lawson in 1947. One daughter, Carol, was born to this union. Myrtle later married Kenneth Mueller and they had 32 years together before he passed away on October 15, 1997.
Myrtle enjoyed spending time with her family. She especially enjoyed gatherings that brought everyone together. She enjoyed attending Willow Springs Free Will Baptist Church as long as her health permitted.
Besides her parents and two husbands, Myrtle was preceded in death by her sister, Lola Owens.
She is survived by her two daughters, Estelline Smith and her husband, Hershel, and Carol Gardner all of Mountain Grove, Missouri, eight grandchildren, Lisa Buttram, Karla Wiemokly (Kerry), Vickie Young (Brian), Brenda Matherly (Marshall), Alan Smith, Teresa Lowe (Michael), Shannon Minge (Lance), and Richard Calhoun, eleven great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, five wonderful nieces, and many other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
