Myrtle Mildred (Johnson) Lee, daughter of the late William Enos and Gertrude Elizabeth (Tutty) Johnson, was born on August 1, 1924 in Hardwicke, England and departed this life on January 9, 2016 at Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston, Missouri. She was 91 years, 5 months, and 8 days of age.
Myrtle grew up in the village of Great Milton, England. After she finished secondary school, she went to work at a Pressed Steel Corp. in the blue print office.
She met Robert Lee during WWII, while he served in the bomber squadron in the U.S. Air Force. They were married on August 2, 1944 in Great Milton. Four sons were born to this union. After the war, Myrtle and their oldest son, Mike, came to America to join Robert. They lived in various places throughout the United States before coming to Dawson, Missouri in 1979.
Myrtle enjoyed being a housewife and mother. Myrtle remained British her entire life. She loved gardening, sewing, knitting, making crafts, and crocheting, and she ran a ceramic shop in Dawson. She also enjoyed spending time with her pet cats.
Myrtle attended the Dawson Assembly of God church and enjoyed teaching childrens classes there.
Besides her parents, Myrtle was preceded in death by a son: David; and by two sisters: Joyce Allen and Edith Frew.
She is survived by her loving husband: Robert of their home; three sons: Michael Lee (Mary) of Mountain Grove, Missouri; Rodger Lee (Sheri) of Lakehead, California; and Gary Lee of Mountain Grove, Missouri; six grandchildren: Misty Lee of Lees Summit, Missouri, Mindy Comeaux (Wade) of Mountain Grove, Missouri, Jennifer Williams (Steven) of Vallejo, California, Penelope Alverez (Carlos) of Dixon, California, Noah Lee (Misty) of Brawley, California, and Josh Lee of Vallejo, California; and eleven great-grandchildren: seven great-great grandchildren; one sister: Beryl Firle (Peter) of Andover, England; a niece: Marion (Rodger) Coughlin of Brentwood, New Hampshire; numerous nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and nephews in England.
