Murel Rhodes

Murel Wesley Rhodes, son of the late William and Bessie (Tate) Rhodes, was born October 22, 1937, in Mountain Grove, Missouri. He passed away on March 22, 2025, at his home in Mountain Grove, at the age of 87.

Murel was united in marriage to Genell Robertson on May 21, 1964, in Mountain Grove. Two sons, Brad and Lyle, were born to this union. Murel was an accomplished brick and rock layer, well known for his work on many beautiful fireplaces. He spent countless hours laying each piece with skill and precision. He took great pride in his work and rightfully so.

When he wasn’t working, Murel enjoyed spending time at the lake and fishing. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They will forever treasure the memories made together.

Besides his parents, Murel was preceded in death by one son, Lyle Rhodes; two brothers, James and Herman Rhodes; and two sisters, Mattie McIntosh and Sofphy Owens.

Murel is survived by his loving wife of over 60 years, Genell Rhodes of the home; one son, Brad Rhodes and wife, Amy, of Mountain Grove; three grandchildren, Josh Rhodes and wife, Lisa, Robyn Rhodes, and Brandon Rhodes; four great-grandchildren, Alina, McKenna, Tucker, and Remi; two brothers, Virgil Rhodes of Mountain Grove and Albert Rhodes of Marshfield, Missouri; and many other relatives and friends who will miss him greatly.
