Monte Graden Musser

November 28, 1927 — August 19, 2018

Monte Graden Musser, son of the late Dewey Graden and Elsie (Zickrick) Musser, was born November 28, 1927, in Scotland, South Dakota, and departed this life August 19, 2018, in Springdale, Arkansas. He was 90 years, 8 months, and 22 days of age.

Monte grew up in the Dawson, Missouri, community and graduated from Mountain Grove High School. He joined the United States Navy and served his country in World War II. He was honorably discharged in 1948. He was united in marriage to Lois Julian on October 4, 1949, in Harrison, Arkansas. After living in several places, in 1963, they moved to Pineville, Louisiana, where they resided for 39 years. In 2002, they moved to Springdale, Arkansas.

Monte worked in the newspaper printing business. He operated a linotype machine for most of his career, and later moved to a computerized typesetting. He worked for the Mountain Grove News Journal, and later worked for the Alexandria Daily Town Talk in Louisiana for many years, retiring at age 62.

Monte was a member of Phillips Chapel Free Will Baptist Church in Springdale, Arkansas. He was also very active in the Springdale Senior Center.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Musser, his parents Dewey and Elsie Musser, his step-mother, Bertie Musser, one brother, Gene Musser, two sisters, Wilma Childers and Helen Worsham, and one son-in-law, Danny Rachow.

Monte is survived by one son, Mark Musser and his wife, Nan, of Springdale, Arkansas, one daughter, Brenda Rachow of Pineville, Louisiana, one brother, Clair Musser of Clovis, New Mexico, one sister, Loeata Moseley of Nixa, Missouri, five grandchildren, John Wesley Musser and his wife, Nell, Marvin Musser and his wife, LeAnn, Laura Moore and her husband, Roger, Katie Rachow, and Josh Rachow and his wife, Caitlin, six great-grandchildren, Austin Musser, Beck Musser, Georgia Musser, Devon Moore, Ava Moore, and Dani Rachow, and many other extended family and friends who will miss him.
