Michelle Lynn (Sawyers) Ipock, known to many as Skeeter, entered the presence of Jesus on August 7, 2024, after fighting her cancer battle with her typical grit, faith and the strength of the Lord. Michelle was born June 27, 1980, to Roger and Marlene (Benson) Sawyers. She graduated from Seymour High in 1998 and from Southwest Missouri State University (now Missouri State University) in 2002. Most recently she worked for the state of Missouri helping people with disabilities.
She was married on May 21, 2011, to Clint Ipock, gaining two sons as well, Brayton and Keyton. Erica was born to Clint and Michelle in 2012, completing their family. Michelle loved Jesus Christ and trusted Christ for salvation. She was an active member of Landmark Church.
Her favorite place was the beach with sea turtles being her favorite animal. She was able to enjoy several beaches over the years with family and friends.
Michelle’s enthusiasm, sense of humor, and smile were contagious. She was fiercely loyal to those she loved.
Michelle is survived by her parents, her husband and children, her brother, Roger Sawyers and his wife, Cassie. Parents-in-law, Vickie Ipock and Ellis and Beth Ipock. Brothers-in-law, Chad Ipock (Tiffani), Chris Ipock (Whitney), Matthew Blackmon (Christina) and Aaron Ipock (Julie). Several of her nieces and nephews knew her best as Aunt Chel – Cieanne (Drew) Matney, Cheyenne (Austin) Chastain, Piper, Dillon, and Dakota Sawyers. Other nieces and nephews include: Levi (Hailey), Laci, Chance, Addi, Makenzie, Jamie, Riley, Haven, Celina, Lance, Zachary, and Cohen. Great nieces and nephews include Kiara and Iris Matney, Hestyn Chastain, and Wrenlee Ipock.
Michelle often said she had four mamas. Her birth mom, Marlene; Brenda Sartin, who preceded her in death; Chery McCormack and Audrey Trapp.
In addition, she is survived by her lifelong friend, Amy Clark, with whom she shared the kind of friendship most people never experience, Michelle’s absence will be felt by many.
For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us [those who are in Christ] a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever. 2 Corinthians 4:17-18 (NLT)
