Michael Roy Patterson, son of Roy Raymond and Lois Elaine (Thornhill) Patterson, was born on October 20, 1959 in Santa Monica, California and passed away on May 23, 2012 at his residence near Mtn. Grove, Missouri, at 52 years of age.
Mike grew up and attended school in Mtn. Grove and graduated from Mtn. Grove High School in 1977. During his senior year, he was elected Student Body President.
He served his country in the United States Navy for thirteen years. While in the Navy, he held various jobs, such as, an Aerial Photographer for the Department of Naval Intelligence, Search and Rescue, and as a Navy Recruiter.
Mike enjoyed playing his guitar and writing classical music. While living in Meridian, Mississippi and serving in the Navy, he wrote a song, “Sweet Child,” which was used as the theme song for the Special Olympics that year. He made a cd and won many awards for his music. One important accomplishment to him was winning first place in the International Song Writing Contest in Winfield, Kansas, which was a much honored and sought after award.
Mike enjoyed being outdoors, especially when camping, fishing, and gardening. He also liked to read in his spare time and visit with his family whenever possible.
He loved his family very much and will be truly missed by those who knew and loved him.
He was saved at an early age and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mtn. Grove, Missouri.
Mike is survived by his mother: Elaine James of Mtn. Grove; his father: Roy Patterson of Mulberry, Arkansas; two daughters: Jenny Davis of West Plains, Missouri and Sunshine Martin of Springdale, Arkansas; one brother: Bill Boykin of Mtn. Grove; three sisters: Pam Owens and her husband, Tom, of Mtn. Grove, Peggy Mackey and her husband, Bryan, of West Plains, Missouri, and Brenda Griffin of St. Louis, Missouri; three grandchildren: Taylor Michael Davis, Shelbee Lynn Davis, and Katelynn Olivia Martin; several nieces; nephews; and a host of other relatives, neighbors, and friends.

May 26th at 10:00 AM in the
Craig-Hurtt Chapel.
Visitation: Friday,
May 25th from
6:00 PM – 8:00 PM
in the funeral home.
Burial: Friendship Cemetery
with Full Military Honors.
