Merry Bell Strunk-Summers

Merry Bell Strunk-Summers, daughter of the late Jay and Laura (Bell) Koehler, was born December 16, 1922, in Hutchinson, Kansas, and departed this life March 13, 2022, in Mountain Grove, Missouri. She was 99 years, 2 months, and 28 days of age.

Merry Bell was united in marriage to Hubert Strunk. Two sons, Hubert and Ronald, were born to this union. They made their home on a farm near Norwood, Missouri. They were married for 57 years before Hubert passed on November 7, 1997. Merry Bell was later united in marriage to Ralph Summers. Ralph passed away January 31, 2010.

Merry Bell was known for her wit and knowledge of the Bible. She was a fierce competitor in Bible trivia, having read the Bible from cover to cover countless times in her lifetime. She enjoyed attending church services. She was also a published poet and song writer. She was a very gifted and hard-working lady who was always willing to help with whatever needed done.

Besides her parents and husbands, Merry Bell was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Janice Strunk, two brothers, Hugh Koehler and Jay Koehler, and two sisters, Gladys Morris and Chlodine Frost.

She is survived by two sons, Hubert Strunk and wife, Donzella, of Mountain Grove, and Ronald Strunk and wife, Belinda, of Norwood, two grandchildren, Terry Strunk and wife, Janet, and Janette (Strunk) O’dell and husband, Paul, one step-grandson, Nathan Williams, one great-grandson, Kyle Massey, and one great-great-grandson, Ruger Massey. Merry Bell will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
