Maxine Olive Burke, daughter of the late Elbert and Thula (Housley) Barnett, was born on July 11, 1917 in Chanute, Kansas and departed this life on February 14, 2011 at her residence in Springfield, Missouri, following a long illness. She was 93 years, 7 months and 3 days of age.
Maxine grew up and attended school in Kansas and was united in marriage to Clyde Dickinson in 1931. They lived on the family farm in Hartville, Missouri, where they raised four children.
She was later married to Kenneth Burke on September 14, 1976 in Las Vegas, Nevada. They lived in the Mtn. Grove, Missouri area for many years and at the time of her passing, they had made their home in Springfield, Missouri .
Maxine was a sweet and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She will be truly missed by those who knew and loved her.
She was an excellent seamstress and she enjoyed traveling and fishing. She also liked to go to Las Vegas to play the slot machines.
She was a longtime member of the Willow Springs Free Will Baptist Church near Mtn. Grove and enjoyed attending services while living in the area.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons: Hubert Dickinson and Ronald Burke; and by one daughter: June Kennedy.
She is survived by her loving husband: Kenneth Burke of their home; one son: Keith Burke of Springfield, Missouri; five daughters: Janice Krashin of Kansas City, Missouri, Debbie Edwards and her husband, Rod, of Hartville, Missouri, Patty Kensinger and her husband, Ray, of Springfield, Missouri, Linda McKaig of Springfield, Missouri, and Sandra Henning and her husband, Ted, of San Diego, California; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
