Maxine grew up and went to school in the Mountain Grove area where she met her spouse of 65 years, Bert Hopkins. They were married on October 11, 1942 in Wright County.
Maxine lived many places including Idaho and Occupied Japan after World War II. She was a charter member of Southside Baptist Church and remained a faithful attendee and member of the choir and singing groups as long as her health permitted. She also worked many places but enjoyed children and taking care of her family the most.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her two brothers: Kenneth and Curtis Sanders; her two sisters: Gladys Smallwood and Ruth Garten; and by one daughter: Rebecca Hopkins.
Maxine is survived by her husband: Bert Hopkins of Mountain Grove; one son: Herbert Hopkins and his wife, Millie, of Jefferson City, Missouri; one daughter: Megan Hopkins and her fiance’, Joseph Berge, of Stillwater, Oklahoma; one granddaughter: Tiffanee Wojczyk and her daughter, Makayla, of Independence, Missouri; three step-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; one step-great-great-grandchild; many cousins, nieces, nephews and other family members.
She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends who mourn her loss, but rejoice at her joining with the Lord.
