Maxine Freda Todd, daughter of the late Clyde Joseph and Ida Catherine (Royster) Dowden, was born on February 7, 1927 in Competition, Missouri, and departed this life on October 15, 2012 at her residence north of Mtn. Grove, Missouri in the Manes Community. She was 85 years, 8 months and 8 days of age.
Maxine grew up and attended school in the Competition area. She was united in marriage to Eugene Todd on March 9, 1944 in Hartville, Missouri. Four children were born to this union. They raised their family on a farm in the Manes area where they had lived for over fifty years. Mr. Todd passed away on April 30, 2009.
Maxine enjoyed collecting quotes, poems, and doing word search puzzles. She loved the Word of God and had read the entire Bible twenty-one times.
She also liked to spend time with her dog, “Elvis.”
She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, neighbor and friend. She will be truly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Maxine was a longtime member of the Green Mountain Baptist Church. She enjoyed attending services as long as her health permitted.
She is survived by two sons: Ronnie Todd and his wife, Brenda, of Manes, Missouri, and Steve Todd and his wife, Lisa, of Falcon, Missouri; two daughters: Evelyn Shaneberger and her husband, Roy, of Columbia, Illinois, and Lori Villier and her husband, John, of St. Louis, Missouri; three brothers, Vernon Dowden and his wife, Mary, of Springfield, Missouri, Joe Dowden and his wife, Bonnie, and Junior Dowden and his wife, Linda, all of Lebanon, Missouri; four sisters: Carlene McDaniel of Ozark, Missouri, Rosalie Webb and her husband, Jay, Norma Kay Medley, and her husband, Jerry, and Valice Lowery, all of Lebanon, Missouri; ten grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; her church family; and other relatives and friends.

Wednesday, October 17, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home.
