Mattie Zelma Bearden, daughter of the late Virgil and Ida (Crawford) Ramsey, was born on November 11, 1916 in Panola County, Texas and passed away on January 26, 2010 at her residence in Springfield, Missouri following a short illness. She was 93 years of age.
Zelma grew up in the Timpson, Texas area and attended school in Carlisle, Texas. She was united in marriage to Marvin James Bearden on March 10, 1932 in Bethany, Louisiana. One son was born to this union. They made their home in Texas for many years and moved to the Mtn. Grove, Missouri area late in the year 2000 to be near their son, Ramsey and his family. Mr. Bearden passed away on April 29, 2001.
Zelma moved to Springfield, Missouri following the passing of her son, Ramsey, who passed away on May 1, 2004.
In her spare time, Zelma enjoyed bird watching, painting, doing genealogy, and collecting knick- knacks. She liked all kinds of animals and she also loved to travel. She was a friend to all and enjoyed living life to its fullest.
She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, friend and neighbor. She loved her family very much and enjoyed spending time with them and visiting with those around her.
She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church and enjoyed attending as long as her health permitted.
Besides her parents, husband and son, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Lamar Ramsey and Allen Ramsey; and by a sister-in-law: Lilla Frances Ramsey.
She is survived by two grandchildren: Brad Bearden and his wife, Brittany, of Neosho, Missouri, and Ms. Amy M. Bearden of Springfield, Missouri; two great-grandchildren: Spencer Bearden and Ainsley Bearden; one brother: Clifford A. Ramsey of Abilene, Texas; a sister-in-law: Mabel Ramsey of Tyler, Texas; and other relatives and friends who will miss her very much.

Friday, January 29th, 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM before the service in the funeral home.
