Mary Lee Mitchell

Mary Lee (Burdick) Mitchell, daughter of the late Roy and Mary (DeCou) Burdick, was born on January 12, 1941, in Lisco, Nebraska, and departed this life on March 6, 2016, at her home in near Hartville, Missouri. She was 75 years, 1 month, and 23 days of age.
Mary was united in marriage to Roy Tommy Mitchell on November 4, 1957, in Wright County, Missouri. Three children were born to this union: Tommy, Leon, and Betty Jo.
Mary enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing, and tending to her flower gardens. She was a great cook and always prepared a wonderful Sunday dinner. Mary enjoyed teaching GED classes with Pauline Plummer. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mary enjoyed watching Roy and Tommy break horses. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Besides her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband: Roy Mitchell on January 29, 2006; one son: Leon Mitchell; her brother: Roy Burdick, Jr.; and two grandsons: Ronnie Lynn Thornhill and Casey Lee Morris.
She is survived by her son: Tommy R. Mitchell and his wife, Darla, of Hartville, Missouri; her daughter: Betty Jo Jarrett and her husband, Ted, of Hartville, Missouri; three sisters: Betty Sheldon and her husband, Carl, of Jasper, Arkansas, Molly Hudson of Lebanon, Missouri, and Bonnie Ogden of Hartville, Missouri; four grandchildren: Bradley Scott Thornhill, Jacob Allen Mitchell, Jolena Ann Mitchell, and Cory Morris; many great-grandchildren and many great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.


Visitation: Wednesday, March 9, 2016, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the Chapel.

Funeral Service: Thursday, March 10, 2016, at 10:00 AM in the Chapel.

Burial: Hillcrest Cemetery
