Mary Elizabeth Mings

Mary Elizabeth Mings, 87, of Mountain Grove, Missouri, passed away on December 20th, 2015. Mary was born on August 1st, 1928, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Joseph and Stephanie (Packevich) Meskelunas.


Mary attended Sioux City schools, graduating from East High School on June 6th, 1946. She went on to Saint Joseph Mercy College for nursing, graduating on September 12th, 1949. On February 24th, 1951, she was united in marriage to Francis J. Mings. He passed away on April 21st, 2015.


Mary worked at various places as a nurse, lastly at Coleman Manufacturing in Wichita, Kansas, as a plant nurse. She retired from there when she and Frank moved to Missouri.


In her younger years, she thoroughly enjoyed spending time going to rummage sales and visiting her sisters-in-law in Wichita. Country music was a big part of Frank and Marys life. When they moved to Missouri, Frank played with several groups and Mary enjoyed listening to the music and socializing with other wives.

Besides her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband: Francis J. Mings, Mary was preceded in death by three brothers: Paul, Joseph, and William Meskelunas; and two sisters: Stella Marshall and Anna Passick.


She is survived by her step-son: Dennis Pyzel and his wife, Denise, of Hawarden, Iowa; four step-grandchildren: Travis (Tristen) of Longmont, Colorado, Allison (Jeremy) of Des Moines, Iowa, Tiffany (Trent) of Elk Point, South Dakota, and Sarah (Anthony) of Brunsville, Iowa; eleven step-great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and one great-great-granddaughter on the way. Mary will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
