Martha Edwina Mccarty

Martha Edwina McCarty, daughter of the late Edgar and Ola Fae (Canada) Tucker, was born on August 6, 1925 near Mtn. Grove, Missouri in Texas County, and departed this life on July 18, 2009 in the Autumn Oaks Caring Center in Mtn. Grove following a long illness. She was 83 years, 11 months and 12 days of age.
Martha grew up and attended school in Mtn. Grove and graduated from Mtn. Grove High School in 1943. She later attended college for two years. She was united in marriage to Don McCarty on November 11, 1948 in Mtn. Home, Arkansas. This union was blessed with four children.
Martha worked in the office at the Brown Shoe Company for several years and later decided to stay home and take care of her grandchildren. She also enjoyed doing embroidery work, crocheting and spending time outdoors tending to her flower and vegetable gardens.
Martha was a longtime member of the First Freewill Baptist Church in Mtn. Grove. She enjoyed attending services as long as her health permitted.
She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She will be truly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter: Linda Fay McCarty.
She is survived by her husband of sixty-years: Don McCarty of their home; one son: Kenny McCarty and his wife, Glenda, of Mtn. Grove; two daughters: Sue Horn and her husband, John, of Columbia, Missouri and Janet Hutsell and her husband, Rick, of Mtn. Grove; one brother: Tom Tucker of New Franklin, Missouri; four grandchildren: Renee Jestice, Nicole Hutsell, Chris Burkhart and Jeff Burkhart; five great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at 2:00 PM in the Craig-Hurtt Chapel.
Visitation:
Monday, July 20, 2009 from 7:00 - 8:00 PM in the chapel.
