Mark Alan Hauck, 63, a native of St Louis, formerly of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and resident of Mountain Grove, Missouri, died recently after a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his mother, Marlene Balsano, and father, Arthur Hauck. He leaves behind his son, Kurt (Katy) Hauck, his daughter, Emily (Adam) Smith, and he was the proud grandfather to Beckner Smith (age three) and grandson, Whitley Smith (arriving October 20, 2022). Mark also leaves his sisters, Pam Hauck (John Purdy), Vickie Sturges, and brothers, John Hauck and Terry (Norma) Hauck. Mark was an accomplished artist in several mediums, focusing on sculpture and oils. His work was exhibited at galleries in St. Louis, Missouri, SIUE, as well as other cities in the Midwest.
He was active in the recovery community for several decades, working with others and their struggles, aiding them along the way. He found great comfort in the community, the friendships he built, and the support he received and generously gave back.
Mark was an avid woodworker and gardener and enjoyed cooking. He was a thoughtful neighbor, often helping with projects such as building a wheelchair ramp for a neighbor, repairing a door, and building a porch.
He enjoyed the outdoors, spending as much time as possible working outside. He could be found with his devoted dog always by his side or doting on his other animals: his donkey, horse or pigs.
Mark will be greatly missed by his children, family and friends.
