Marilyn Rose (Reisenleiter) Daily passed away peacefully at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, September 27, 2023, with family at her bedside. She was 86 years, 8 months, and 23 days old.
Marilyn was born at home on January 4, 1937, in St. Louis County, Missouri, to Charles and Goldie Reisenleither.
She had one younger brother, Philip. She grew up in the St. Louis area. While still in high school, she worked at National Lead. After graduation, she worked at the telephone company in downtown St. Louis as a switchboard operator.
She met William “Bill” Daily on a blind date arranged by a friend in 1956. They were married on December 21, 1957, three daughters, Danna, Dawn, and Dara, were born to this union. They lived in Belleville, Illinois, before moving to a small farm in Fordland, Missouri, in the summer of 1968.
Marilyn was active as a room mother, in the PTA, a substitute teacher, and drove a school bus. She was the first woman elected to the Fordland School Board, its first female President and worked hard to get the high school building on Iron Mountain Road constructed. Marilyn continued to be involved in school activities until her children graduated.
Marilyn began working as a teller at the Seymour Bank in 1981. She became the receptionist and then the secretary to the bank president, Gerald Rudolph. Over the next twenty plus years, Marilyn seated at her desk in the lobby of the bank was a familiar sight. After Marilyn’s retirement, she enjoyed traveling with friends, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Marilyn belonged to several women’s groups: the PWT (both versions), the local Extension club, Eastern Star (the Rogersville chapter then Seymour chapter), UMW and her church prayer group. She was a member of the Fordland United Methodist Church.
Marilyn was married in her heart for 66 years to Bill Daily because she could never find another man as good as Bill.
Bill preceded her in death, as did her parents, Charles Maurice and Goldie Rosalyn Reisenleiter, her brother, Philip Charles Reisenleiter.
Marilyn is survived by her daughters, Danna Lee Daily of Seymour, Dawn Michelle Daily of Marshfield, Missouri, and Dara Ann Hensley (Jay) of Mountain Home, Idaho, seven grandchildren: Anne Wilkinson (Jared) of Carthage, Missouri, Brooke Workman (Ramey) of Vienna, Missouri, Catherine Zellmer of Springfield, Missouri, Dion Horman (Megan) of Fordland, Missouri, Morgan Cooley (Denver) of Marshfield, Missouri, William “Ty” Hensley (Shelby) of Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, and Emily Hensley of Mountain Home, Idaho, eleven great-grandchildren: Addison Mae Renfroe, Caleb Patrick Horman, Garret Maurice Jones, Hayden Jeffery Wilkinson, Austin Patrick Horman, Tuker Alan Cooley, Dion Lee Horman, Anna Rose Marie Cooley, Calvin Joe William Horman, Abigail Dawn Cooley, and Evie Mae Hensley.
