Loyd Richard Shaw, son of the late Samuel and Myrtle (Pippin) Shaw, was born on October 29, 1931 in Texas County, Missouri and departed this life on Thursday, January 8, 2009. He was 77 years, 2 months and 10 days of age.
Loyd grew up and attended school in Texas County and was united in marriage to Dorlis Bee Carter on June 15, 1951 in Salem, Arkansas. Three children were born to this union.
Loyd worked in construction for many years having his own business doing interior decorating, dry wall and painting. He enjoyed being outdoors, especially when hunting and fishing.
He was a loving father who was very proud of his children and grandchildren. He will be truly missed by those who knew and loved him. He was always willing to help those around him and he never met a stranger.
Loyd had accepted Christ as his savior and was ready to go to Heaven. For the past six months he had made his home with his son in Nixa, Missouri.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son: Gary Shaw; and by one sister: Neva Snavely.
Loyd is survived by his son: Larry Shaw of Nixa, Missouri; his daughter and her husband: Carolyn and Dennis Mitchell of Mtn. Grove; two brothers: Curtis Shaw and his wife, Jean, of Mtn. Grove, and Calvin Shaw of Raytown, Missouri; six grandchildren: Larry Shaw, Dameon Shaw, April Shaw, Gary Shaw, Denver Mitchell and Stuart Mitchell; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Graveside Service:
Satuarday, January 10, 4:00 PM in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Texas County, Missouri, near Mtn. Grove.
No Formal Visitation
Friends may sign book after 8:00 AM on Friday, January 9.
