Loyd Mitchell

Loyd Mitchell, son of Herman and Hazel (Mosley) Mitchell, was born during a blizzard on December 15, 1940, in Rinard, Iowa, and departed this life suddenly on June 30, 2022, at his residence in Mtn. Grove, Missouri. He was 81 years of age.

In his youth he was raised in Iowa until his early teen years when he moved to Mtn. Grove, Missouri, and graduated from Mountain Grove High School in 1959. He was united in marriage to Caroline Matthis on November 8, 1962. Three children were born to this union. They made their home in the Simmons Community for several years and moved to the Mountain Grove area in the early 1990’s.

Loyd was known as a master mechanic and a fixer of all things. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He enjoyed working on his old cars and looking for the next project. He will be truly missed by those who knew and loved him. Loyd accepted Christ as his Savior as a young child. He was a member of the Hopewell Freewill Baptist Church of Mtn Grove, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by the first love of his life, Caroline Mitchell; his parents; sister, Joyce; and brother, Stanley.

He is survived by the second love of his life, his wife, Janace Mitchell of the home; two sons, Harold Mitchell and his wife, Carla, of Houston, Missouri, and Sam Mitchell and his significant other, Robin, of Clancy, Montana; one daughter, Amy Mariassov and her husband, Dmitri, of Coon Rapids, Minnesota; one sister, Darlene Whitman of Mountain Grove, Missouri; three brothers, Johnnie Mitchell of Warsaw, Missouri, Steve Mitchell of Elk Creek, Missouri, and Mark Mitchell of Cabool, Missouri; six grandchildren, Wendy Sholtz, Stephanie Hawks, Melissa Johnson, Justin Mitchell, Aleks Mariassov and Lucas Mariassov; eight great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
