Lonnie Robert Sinning, son of Robert E. Sinning and Wilma “Juanita” Sinning, was born August 18, 1950, in Mountain Grove, Missouri, and departed this life on December 4, 2013 at his home in Norwood, Missouri, after a long illness. He was 63 years, 3 months, and 16 days of age.

He attended school in Mountain Grove until 7th grade when his family moved to the Norwood community where he graduated from Norwood High School in 1968. In first grade he earned the nickname “Buckshot” on the school bus for his love of storytelling. In 1959, he was honored as the “Youngest Dairy Farmer in the State”. After school he enlisted in the Army to serve his country, spending a year in intelligence at Nurnberg, Germany, and then serving a year of combat in Vietnam.

He was united in marriage to Diana Faye Campbell on June 19, 1971 in Norwood, Missouri. He enjoyed taking some college courses and starting a family. Three children were born to this union: Christopher, Heather, and Tanya. They lived in Mountain Grove and Strafford, Missouri before making their home in Norwood, Missouri for the past 37 years.

He was employed at Brown Shoe Company in Mtn. Grove for a year before starting at Associated Wholesale Grocers in Springfield where he retired. During his 29 and half years at A.W.G he received numerous distinctions and accommodations.

He was saved at a young age and was long-time member of the Norwood Assembly of God church where he served as a Sunday School teacher, Royal Ranger instructor, and on the Board of Trustees. He believed in serving his community as he served on the SE-MA-NO Electric Cooperative Board and also was a past Post Commander of V.F.W. post 3770.

Lonnie enjoyed hunting, fishing, storytelling, family vacations, and shopping for almost anything. He enjoyed spending time with family, and especially loved the Christmas season and music.

He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, friend and neighbor. He will be truly missed by those who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert E. Sinning and his father-in-law, Paul J. Campbell. Lonnie is survived by his loving wife of 42 years: Diana Sinning of their home; his son: Christopher Sinning and his wife, Amber, of Norwood, Missouri; his daughters: Heather Lumb and her husband, John, of Nixa, Missouri, and Tanya Calhoun and her husband, Dustin, of Norwood, Missouri; his mother: Juanita Sinning of Mtn. Grove, Missouri; a mother-in-law; Maude Campbell of Mtn. Grove, Missouri; three brothers: Danny Sinning of Norwood, Missouri, Gary Sinning of Graff, Missouri, and Jeff Sinning of Norwood, Missouri; six grandchildren; Holly, Emily, and Addyson Sinning, Trista Lumb, and Dylan and Mayci Calhoun; several sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of other relatives and friends.
