Loma June Pederson was born February 4, 1930, in Alpena, Arkansas, and passed away December 8, 2017, at her residence in Vanzant, Missouri. She was 87 years, 10 months, and 4 days of age.
She was born and raised in Alpena, Arkansas, and graduated high school from School of the Ozarks in 1947. She then married the love of her life, Louis Pederson, in 1949, at the age of 19. Louis and Loma lived in the Harrison, Arkansas, area for a few years while caring for her mother. They later bought their farm in Vanzant, Missouri, and began milking cows. They had one son born to their union, Lonnie Pederson. They also were foster parents for many years and welcomed 19 children into their home.
Loma loved to have a garden with lots of vegetables and beautiful flowers. She enjoyed sewing, painting landscape pictures, and caring for her animals. She was a Tupperware dealer for many years. She loved to tutor students to earn their GED.
She was saved and baptized at an early age and was a longtime member of the Vanzant Baptist Church.
Besides her parents, Loma was preceded in death by her husband, Louis D. Pederson, one infant brother, and one sister, Wilma Wise
.
She is survived by one son, Lonnie and his wife, Deana, of Lebanon, Missouri, two grandchildren, Logan Schmidt and Kristina Thornbury, one great-grandchild, Kierstin Thornbury, and many other relatives, friends and church family.
