Lois Virginia Peel, daughter of the late Everett and Jewell (Willhite) Alumbaugh, was born September 5, 1937, in Rayborn, Missouri, and departed this life May 3, 2018, in Republic, Missouri. She was 80 years, 7 months, and 28 days of age.
Lois grew up in Mountain Grove, Missouri. Her family moved to Flint, Michigan in 1954. She graduated from Bendle High School in 1956 in Michigan. She was married to Verncil “Vern” Peel on May 24, 1958. They had three children.
Lois worked various retail jobs over the years as well as being a housewife and mother. She enjoyed camping and vacationing to Missouri every year. She was a member of First General Baptist Church for 20 years, and served as secretary for several years. She also was the secretary for the church bowling league for 18 years. They moved back to Mountain Grove in 1988. They attended the First Free Will Baptist Church and she was involved in many senior citizen activities.
Lois is survived by son, Michael Peel and wife, June, of Westland, Michigan, daughter, Cheryl Down of Springfield, Missouri, and son, Eric Peel of Nixa, Missouri, six grandchildren, Christopher Voorhess, Nicole Beaird, Thomas Down, Danielle Goodwin, Rachel Weltchek, and Zachary Peel, two great-grandchildren, Shelby Voorhess and Lawson Beaird, two sisters, Louise Alumbaugh of Hartville, Missouri, and Delores Hicks and husband, Leroy, of Manes, Missouri, one brother, Gary Alumbaugh and wife, Sandy, of Mountain Grove, Missouri, numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends who will miss her greatly.
