Lois Opal (Cearley) Emery, daughter of the late Noah and Ethel (Sparks) Cearley, was born on June 23, 1926, in Douglas County, Missouri, and passed away on July 16, 2015 in Autumn Oaks Caring Center of Mountain Grove, Missouri. She was 89 years and 26 days of age.
Lois attended school at Pleasant Mound in Douglas County. She was saved and baptized at an early age. As a young girl, before she was married, Lois worked as a telephone operator and a school teacher. She married Everett Arvel Emery on March 15, 1946. To this union three sons were born: Larry, Ronald, and Randy.
Lois loved the outdoors and enjoyed working with flowers. She was known for her garden. From the time of her marriage, she lived and worked on her farm in Vanzant. She and Arvel milked cattle and raised hogs for many years. Later in life, after her boys were raised, Lois worked for Brown Shoe Company in Mountain Grove.
Lois lived at home as long as her health permitted. In September of 2014, she moved to Autumn Oaks Caring Center in Mountain Grove. There she made many new friends whom she loved very much
Besides her parents, Lois was preceded in death by her husband: Arvel Emery; oldest son: Larry; her only sister: Mildred Smith; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
She is survived by her sons: Ronnie Emery and his wife, Sharon, of Vanzant; Randy Emery and his wife, Mickie, of Mountain Grove; seven grandchildren: Elaine (Emery) Iott, Bradley Emery, Justin Emery, Rusty Emery, Jeremy Emery, Tracy (Emery) Wakefield, and Ashley (Emery) Grisham; thirteen great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends.
Visitation: Friday, July 17th, 2015 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home.
Funeral Service: Saturday, July 18th, 2015 at 10:00 AM at Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home.
Burial: Vanzant Cemetery
