Lois M. Sutherland

Lois M. Sutherland, daughter of the late Orville C. and Lottie (Covelle) Swan, was born on February 10, 1922 in Anderson County, Missouri and departed this life on Friday, October 15, 2010 in the Kabul Nursing Home in Cabool, Missouri, following a long illness. She was 88 years, 8 months and 5 days of age.
Lois grew up and attended school in Anderson County. She graduated from Caney High School in Caney, Kansas in 1940. Lois worked as a clerk during World War II at the Independence Air Force Base, where she met and later married to Lester Sutherland on February 15, 1946 in Shidler, Oklahoma. Three children were born to this union. Mr. Sutherland passed away on April 28, 1997.
Lois enjoyed taking trips to the lake, fishing, reading and crocheting. She was also an avid M.U. fan and liked to play cards with her friends.
She was a loving and caring homemaker, who enjoyed taking care of her family. She will be truly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother: Ed Swan.
She is survived by her two sons: Larry Sutherland pf Carthage, Texas, and Gary Sutherland of Mtn. Grove, Missouri; her daughter: Linda Brown and her husband, Dan, of Blue Springs, Missouri; one brother: Carl Swan of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Tuesday, October 19th, 10:00 AM in the Craig-Hurtt Chapel.
No Formal Visitation
Friends may call from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM Monday, Oct. 18th, in the funeral home.
