Linda Louise Furrow, oldest of six children of Paul and Helen (Gephart) Darter, was born on September 22, 1947 in Cabool, Missouri and passed away on August 13, 2013 at her residence in Mtn. Grove, Missouri, at 65 years of age.
Linda grew up and attended school in Cabool, Missouri.
She met and married her first husband, Egbert Riley, in 1965. This union was blessed with three children: her only son, Tony, in 1966, a daughter, Valerie, in 1968, and the baby of the bunch, Alecia, in 1970. Linda and Egbert separated in 1985.
Linda moved to Mtn. Grove in 1986 and while working at Polly’s Café, she met “Mr. Right”: William Furrow. He was the true love of her life. On April 22, 1988, they were married in a beautiful spring outdoor wedding at her parents’ home. That year, Alecia blessed Linda with her first granddaughter, Kimmie, and then, Jamie, the following year. Linda’s granddaughters were her world.
Besides working as a waitress, Linda worked at Wal-Mart as a door greeter and also a daycare provider. She loved children as if they were her own.
In 2003, she and William moved to Lebanon, Missouri. Kimmie blessed Linda with her first great-grandchild, Breana, who became her entire universe.
William passed away in 2004.
In 2006 and 2007, Kimmie had two more great-granddaughters for Linda, and in 2007, Jamie added a great-grandson, Kraig. Both Kimmie and Jamie added two more great-grandsons in 2009, Andrew and Kaleb.
Linda was not only a grandma to Kimmie and Jamie, but to anyone who came into their lives.
She had the most caring and giving heart and will be greatly missed.
In 2012, Linda became ill and her granddaughters along with a family friend, Autumn Hicks, took care of her.
In 2013, Valerie married E.J. Allen, who also helped take care of Linda. She not only loved him as her son-in-law, but as a counselor, mentor and best friend.
Linda lived life to the fullest. She loved making everyone laugh. Just when a person thought they had her figured out, she’d show them differently. She was the joker in a deck of cards, a jack of all trades and the matriarch of the family.
Saying she will be greatly missed doesn’t even begin to cover it.
She leaves to mourn her passing, her mother: Helen Darter, of Cabool, Missouri; her son: Anthony Riley and his wife, Cathy, of Osage Beach, Missouri; her two daughters: Valerie Allen and her husband, E.J., and Alecia Shannon, all of Mtn. Grove; one brother: Lonnie Darter and his wife, Sally, of Iowa; four sisters: Maxine Beltz and her husband, Bob, of Willow Springs, Missouri, Wanda Barker and her husband, Richard, of Mtn. Grove, Pauline Woolman and her husband, Larry, of Cabool, Missouri, and Nancy Parsnow and her husband, Benurd, of Germany; two granddaughters: Kimberly Youngblood and Jamie Moore; six great-grandchildren: Kraig and Kaleb Carter, Breana, Emily, Natalie, and Andrew Youngblood; and other relatives and friends.
