Linda Lou McGowan, daughter of the late Ralph and Geneva (Edwards) Mackey, was born on February 10, 1941 in Rockbridge, Missouri and passed away on July 21, 2009 in the Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, Missouri. She was 68 years, 5 months and 11 days of age.
Linda grew up in the Rockbridge area and attended the Lower Brixey School and later graduated from Gainesville High School in 1958. She was united in marriage to I.K. “Pat” McGowan and two children were born to this union.
Linda was employed by the Brown Shoe Company for several years. She also worked on a beef and dairy farm which made her develop a strong work ethic.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking, especially her homemade chicken noodles which she made for the whole family. She also enjoyed mowing, sewing, taking care of her animals, singing, and playing instruments.
She was known for always putting others before herself and treating everyone equal. Linda had recently given her heart to the Lord and was ready to meet her Savior.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Pat McGowan in 2002; and by a son: Brad McGowan in 1999.
She is survived by one son: Kevin Lane McGowan and his wife, Shannon of Mtn. Grove; daughter-in-law: Kim Russell who was her “stand by angel,” of Mtn. Grove; four grandchildren: Dustin, Brody, Chance, and Ashley; two step-grandchildren: Darren and Sadie; two brothers: Eldon Mackey and his wife, Tinzie, of Mtn. Grove and Billy Mackey and his wife, Tugta, of San Antonio, Texas; three sisters: Judy Williams and her husband, Harold, of Virginia Beach, Virginia; Nancy Turner and her husband, Charley, and Mary Knox all of Mtn. Grove; a special uncle: Doin Mackey; several nieces; nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Linda was a unique person who will be truly missed by those who knew and loved her.
