Lester Alden Moore

Lester Alden Moore, son of the late James William and Roberta (Rector) Moore, was born on December 26, 1930 in Kansas City, Missouri, and departed this life on October 25, 2011 in the Missouri Veterans Home in Mount Vernon, Missouri. He was 80 years, 10 months and 29 days of age.
Lester grew up and attended school in the Kansas City area. At the age of twenty, he was united in marriage to Oral Mae Brooks on October 1, 1951 in Pleasant Hill, Missouri in the Kansas City area. .
Lester served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He received a Purple Heart and was medically discharged as a Private First Class on October 4, 1953. During his service he also received the Korean Service Medal with Three Stars, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the Commendation Medal Pendant with Combat "V".

For many years Lester was an over the road truck driver. He later had many business ventures such as carpet cleaning, installing insulation, running a bulldozer, driving a school bus for the Mtn. Grove School District and Unique Services. In his spare time he enjoyed being on bowling leagues.
Lester was a member of the Veteran’s of Foreign Wars and the American Legion Post 30 in Mtn. Grove. He looked forward to spending time with the VFW and American Legion men during their events.
Lester also worked as the caretaker for the Hillcrest Cemetery in Mtn. Grove for several years.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son: Charles Moore; two brothers; and by three sisters.
Lester is survived by his wife: Mae Moore; two sons: Steven Moore and his wife, Deborah, of West Plains, Missouri and Lester “Les” Moore and his wife, Helen, of Mtn. Grove; one daughter: Susan McKenzie; nine grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives, neighbors and friends who will miss him very much.

Visitation:
No Formal Visitation – Friends may call at their convenience on Thursday, October 27th from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM in the funeral home.
