Lee Thomas Cross, son of the late John Gilliam and Minnie Mae (Walker) Cross, was born on February 21, 1931 in Glasgow, Kentucky, and departed this life on January 14, 2013 at his residence in Springfield, Missouri, following a short illness, at 81 years of age.
Lee grew up in rural Kentucky where he attended school. He went on to make a career as a lineman, working for various electric companies. He retired following thirty-five years of service with Springfield City Utilities.
Lee was united in marriage to Lavonne Worman on December 9, 1950 in Yellville, Arkansas. This union was blessed by two children. Mrs. Cross passed away on July 19, 2012.
Lee enjoyed being outdoors, especially when fishing and bird hunting.
He was a man of few words, but when he spoke, you listened. Lee had a strong work ethic and very loving heart. He will be truly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Besides his parents, and his wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers and a half-sister.
He is survived by his son: Danny Lee Cross and his wife, Glenna, of Conway, Missouri; his daughter: Susan Richardson and her husband, Greg, of Springfield, Missouri; three grandchildren: Miranda Danielle Cross, Shelby LaVon Cross and Tanner LeAnn Cross; and a host of other relatives and friends.
