Ruby “Lavonne” Cross, daughter of the late Forrest Guy and Ruby Elpha (Ridenour) Worman was born on July 15, 1932 in Douglas County, MO and passed away on July 19, 2012 at her residence in Springfield, MO at 80 years of age.
Lavonne grew up and attended school in Douglas County and graduated from Mtn. Grove High School in 1949. While in high school, she played a clarinet in the marching band.
She was united in marriage to Lee Cross on December 9, 1950 in Yellville, Arkansas. They raised two children.
Lavonne was employed by the Brown Shoe Company in the early years of her marriage. She worked and later retired from J.E. Hanger Company as a secretary, where she was employed for several years.
Lavonne and Lee had lived in the Springfield, Missouri area since 1960. She was a long time member of the Jefferson Avenue Baptist Church in Springfield. She enjoyed attending services as long as her health permitted.
She enjoyed playing all kinds of board games, especially Scrabble. She also liked to watch and feed her backyard rabbits.
Lavonne was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, friend and neighbor. She loved her family very much and enjoyed spending time with them. She will be truly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother: Forrest Dale Worman.
She is survived by her husband: Lee Cross of their home; her son and daughter-in-law: Danny Lee and Glenna Cross of Conway, Missouri; her daughter and son-in-law: Susan and Greg Richardson of Springfield, Missouri; three granddaughters: Miranda Danielle Cross, Shelby LaVon Cross and Tanner Leann Cross; many other relatives, church family, neighbors and friends.
