LaVerne M. Clark, age 79, of Mtn. Grove, Missouri, passed away on April 7, 2012 in the Autumn Oaks Caring Center in Mtn. Grove, following a long illness. She was born on January 11, 1933 in Rayborn, Missouri to the late Albert Newton and Mary Etta (Carder) Dobbs.
LaVerne grew up in the Manes, Missouri area and attended the Perkins School. She was united in marriage to Clarence James “Jim” Prock on April 7, 1950 in Mtn. Home, Arkansas. Two daughters were born to this union, Lola Mae in 1950 and Mary Ann in 1967. LaVerne and Jim moved to a farm near Beaver Creek where they made their home, working together until his death in 1981. During those years, LaVerne was a homemaker, and she also worked at the Brown Shoe Company in Mtn. Grove and at different home health agencies in Wright County.
LaVerne attended church at Crisptown (Evening Shade) near Manes, Missouri for many years. She enjoyed singing gospel songs over the years.
In 1982, she retired and moved to Mtn. Grove, Missouri. She then married Jackie Lee Clark on May 27, 1983 in Miami, Oklahoma. They made their home in Oklahoma for a short time and returned to Mtn. Grove where they resided until his death in 1993. LaVerne then moved back to the Manes area and stayed there until she entered the Autumn Oaks Caring Center in Mtn. Grove on March 6, 2006, due to her health.
LaVerne was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Her family and friends were very important to her. She loved them and was loved by them. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She liked to cook, sew, drink coffee with her family, and travel.
She was preceded in death by her father: Albert Dobbs on March 16, 1980; her mother: Etta Dobbs on February 12, 2001; her first husband: Jim Prock on September 22, 1981; her second husband: Jackie Clark on December 24, 1993; her daughter: Mary Ann (Prock) Turner on January 28, 2007; one sister: Lois Fern (Dobbs) Davis; one brother: Albert Lee Dobbs; and by a very special nephew: John Marvin Barnes.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Lola Mae (Prock) Coble and Kenneth James Coble of Lynchburg, Missouri; one brother and his wife: Bennie and Betty (Mings) Dobbs of Manes, Missouri; three sisters: Esther Champ and Patsy Barnes, both of Cabool, Missouri, and Wilma Hancock of Mtn. Grove; a step-daughter: Lori Mahurin of Mtn. Grove; five grandchildren: Kendra Nicole Coble and Brandon James Coble, both of Lynchburg, Missouri, Amanda LaMae Prock of Branson, Missouri, Andrew Ronald James Turner of Mtn. Grove, and Jamie Louise Turner of Cabool, Missouri; five great-grandchildren: Izaak Lee James Turner; Zacherius Dustin Turner, Jimma-Jaymy Maye Ann Coble, Zane Michael Andrew Warren Prock, and Race Thurman Coble; one niece: Jaretta Ann Beard; five nephews: Richard Michael Champ, David Curtis Champ, Shawn Conners, Darren Dobbs, and Lonnie Joe Barnes; and a host of other relatives and friends.
LaVerne will be deeply missed by her family and friends, but the precious memories of happier times spent with her will last forever.
