Laura Muszynski passed away on November 21, 2009 at home in Reeves Springs surrounded by her dear friends Mary and George Bianchi .
Laura was born in Brooklyn, New York on January 20, 1924. With her husband, the late Ray Muszynski, they worked together for many years at various jobs. In the 1950’s they worked on a barge in the East River. Later they opened a luncheonette in Brooklyn and lived in the apartment behind it. The luncheonette became a gathering spot for families thanks to the hospitality of Laura and Ray. Though they had no biological children of their own, many children thought of Laura and Ray as their family. Laura and Ray moved to Mountain Grove in 1973 and ran the bus stop and again counted many of the local children as their “adopted kids.” Raymond predeceased Laura in 1992. Her family and friends will remember her as a great story teller and as a loving, spirited and gentle person. Laura was the fifth of six children.
She is survived by her brother Homer Phoenix, many nephews and nieces as well as the Bianchi’s, who lovingly cared for Laura in their home for the last five years of her life. She will be missed by her family and many friends.
