Kristen Nicole (Nelson) Martinez

Kristen Nicole (Nelson) Martinez, daughter of Lawrence Willie and Lana Nelson of Mountain Grove, and Robin Bishop Cortez of Taylors, South Carolina, was born on May 6, 1981, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri and departed this life on July 6, 2016 in West Plains, Missouri.
Growing up, Kristens time was split living in Cedartown, Georgia, with her mother, and in Mountain Grove with her father. As an adult, she lived many places.
Kristen had a big heart and knew no strangers. She loved helping and knowing that she made a difference in the lives of others. Spending time with family, especially her children, was her favorite pastime. She loved to read and spoke fluent Spanish.
She was preceded in death by her son, AJ Martinez.
Kristen is survived by her father Lawrence Willie Nelson and his wife, Lana, of Mountain Grove; her mother: Robin Bishop Cortez of Taylors, South Carolina; two children: Carme Martinez and Jose Nelson of Mountain Grove; grandparents: Helen Nelson Myers of Mountain Grove, James and Sue Anderson of Mountain Grove, and Wayne and Arjamond Bishop of Taylors, South Carolina; three sisters: Michelle (Douglas) Music of Monetta, South Carolina, Amanda Ploof of Rome, Georgia, and Chasity (Jonathan) McCay of Rogersville, Missouri; one brother; Kodie Nelson of Mountain Grove; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins who will greatly miss her.
